On Wednesday, October 9, 2024, the Head of Sharia Banking Department at the Faculty of Economics of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, Dr. Yayuk Sri Rahayu, SE, MM, CMA, became an invited speaker at the International Webinar organized by the Faculty of Economics and Islamic Business of IAIN Madura. This International Webinar has the theme “Innovative Without Limits: Opening Business Opportunities for Young Entrepreneurs”. Together with two other speakers from Malaysia, he conveyed the opportunities and tips and tricks to become a young entrepreneur.

The lecturer who is also a businessman explained the phenomenon of limited labor absorption in Indonesia which causes high unemployment so that there must be an alternative for young people besides looking for work. The alternative is to become an entrepreneur. The Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) reported that in February 2024 the number of unemployed in Indonesia reached 7.2 million people. In February 2024, the open unemployment rate (TPT) for the young age group (15-24 years) was the highest, reaching 16.42 percent. When viewed according to residential area, the urban TPT (5.89 percent) is much higher than the TPT in rural areas (3.37 percent). Based on this data, there is a huge opportunity for young people to become entrepreneurs in accordance with their respective fields. Webinar participants who came from various countries including Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, and various universities in Indonesia were very enthusiastic by asking some questions to all the speakers.

This activity is one of the implementations of the MoU between FE UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim and FEBI IAIN Madura.
